Constans

337–350 AD

Constans, youngest son of Constantine the Great, ruled the western provinces of the empire during a period of both consolidation and growing internal tension. His early reign saw military success in Britain and along the Danube, but his later years were marked by political instability and rivalry with his brother Constantius II. His coinage includes both official issues and a wide range of contemporary imitative pieces, especially of the FEL TEMP REPARATIO series, reflecting the economic pressures and widespread circulation of small bronzes in the mid‑4th century. For collectors, the series offers remarkable variety in style, mintmarks, and artistry.
