English “Sterling Bust” Jeton – Early 14th Century

English “sterling bust” copper-alloy jeton. Crowned bust of king facing; border of trefoils and pellets. Reverse long cross with crowned leopard‑heads? in each angle; border consisting of a leaf either side of the letter I. Early 14th century. 20 mm. The central indentation is characteristic of English jetons of this period, believed to have been added to prevent silvering and fraudulent passing as coinage.
