Struck at the ecclesiastical mint of York. The portion of the flan bearing the king's name has been removed by clipping, and only a small part of the initial mark survives. The initial marks used for Edward IV pennies of this particular York type are small annulet, cross-in-circle or rose, whereas the sole initial mark used for the Richard III coin is a sun and rose.
