Richard I (1189–1199)

The short‑cross coinage of Richard I continued the long‑established design introduced under Henry II. Although the portrait remained unchanged, stylistic differences in lettering and moneyer dies allow attribution to this reign. Well‑struck examples are increasingly scarce and remain highly desirable among collectors of early Plantagenet coinage.
