GAUL, SENONES
The Celtic Senones tribe were from the Seine river valley region in north-central France. During Julius Caesar’s Gallic Wars of 58–50 BC, the Senones, opposed Caesar but were eventually subdued and their
lands were integrated into Roman Gaul. The Senones left a lasting mark through their name on the city of Sens and their role in shaping early Roman-Celtic interactions.
