Roman Enamelled Lozenge Plate Brooch. An attractive Roman enamelled plate brooch with a raised central lozenge and four projecting round lugs. While similar forms appear in Hattatt, there is no exact parallel, making this an interesting variant. Good surviving enamel remains within the recessed fields. 2nd Century AD. Dimensions: 38 mm × 38 mm. Complete apart from the pin. An appealing and well-preserved example of a less common geometric enamelled type. |
