Roman Hound / Hare Zoomorphic Brooch (2nd–3rd Century A.D.)
WRA 11013
Roman Hound / Hare Brooch. A Roman bronze zoomorphic brooch in the form of a running hound or possibly a hare, the body lightly decorated with zig‑zag lines. Green patina with light soil deposits. 2nd–3rd Century A.D. Length 33 mm. A continental European type with no exact parallel in Hattatt, though stylistically consistent with Roman provincial zoomorphic brooches from Gaul and the Rhineland. Pin missing, as typical for this type.
