Openwork Plate Brooch. A bronze Roman openwork plate brooch formed as four axes joined at the base, creating a distinctive cruciform design. The brooch retains its hinge and catchplate, with most of the original tinned or silvered surface still present. As is typical for the type, the iron pin is missing. 2nd–3rd century AD.
