Medieval Buckle. A copper alloy single loop buckle with integral plate. Rectangular in shape with central narrow section and smaller notched terminal. Much of the body decorated with transverse grooves. Circa 1250 - 1400. Ross Whitehead, Buckles 1250 - 1800, pp. 32-35. Found Near Horncastle. Recorded Oct 01, 2011 UKDFD # 33710. 38mm x 23mm. Attractive dark green patina, complete apart from the pin.
