English ’sterling bust’ Copper Alloy Jeton. Crowned bust of king facing; border of pellets and rosettes. ® Long cross patonce, six-pellet clusters in angles; border of crowns. Late 13th to early 14th century. 22 mm. The central indentation is a characteristic of English jetons of this period. It is believed to have been done to prevent them from being silvered and passed off as coins.
